I’m Lucy Sumner. I’m a recent graduate of California State University, Long Beach, where I earned my degree in Public Relations and discovered my passion for the music and entertainment industry. Moving to California opened the door to new experiences, bigger dreams, and countless opportunities to grow creatively and professionally.

Creativity has always been at the center of who I am. I play five instruments and taught myself how to record and produce music from my at‑home studio—otherwise known as my bedroom. I love collaborating, experimenting, and finding new ways to share my work.

Outside of music, I’m someone who thrives on curiosity and exploration. I love drawing, painting, discovering new places, binge‑watching great films and shows, and building a good Lego set when I want to unwind.

Hello!

Musical Background

My musical journey started when I was three in London. I was completely obsessed with the film and soundtrack to “The Sound of Music,” and I would sing along while watching it and never get bored. My parents would expose me to various kinds of artists, and whenever I could sing, I would ( I got shushed a lot on long car rides for singing too loud).

At age six, I performed in the school production of “The Sound of Music,” playing the part of Gretel. I also started learning the violin and fell in love with it. After moving to the U.S., we found a Suzuki school, and I continued all the way to book 8.

Music has never stopped being a passion of mine, but I also grew tired, as kids do, of playing one kind of music, and I wanted a change. When I chose the trumpet in 5th grade, it wasn’t an easy decision. It came down to a moment that I will remember forever when I had to choose between trying the trombone or the trumpet. My heart leaned towards the trumpet, and I have never looked back.

I played in the Marching Band and Wind Ensemble in high school, and every year, I participated in Solo and Ensemble competitions. I had the opportunity to play at one of the Seahawks pre-show and halftime shows, and I will never forget that feeling of standing on the field with thousands of people watching. I also marched 6 miles in the Pasadena Rose Bowl parade, where I had in and out for the very first time, and it was the most delicious thing I had ever tasted after playing and marching for 6 miles. Music is a very big part of who I am, and I still find time as a student to record, practice, and even collaborate with some friends whenever I can, and I hope to do so for many years to come.
